  • Vehicle Overview

I have been working on this 1979 MG MGB, “Miss B”, since January of this year, my Covid project. The original mileage was at 73,000. It was just recently tuned-up and all the fluids and adjustments were made by a local expert in British cars. This is a very clean example of one of the most successful British marks in history. The MGB was manufactured by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), later British Leyland, as a four-cylinder, soft-top roadster from 1962 until 1980. The five-bearing 1,798cc engine produces 95 horsepower with peak power coming at 5,400 rpm. The majority of MGBs were exported to the U.S. and the distinctive rubber bumpers were fitted to meet domestic standards. The MGB was one of the first cars to feature controlled crumple zones designed to protect the driver and passenger in a 30 mph impact with an immovable barrier. Options include: radial tires, seat belts, convertible top, AM/FM radio, music video, interior sound lighting, vinyl interior and Weber carbs and headers. A set of driving lights and LED headlights were added just last month. There is not even surface rust on this 42 year old classic and I drive it weekly. It just came through a new paint job and stripes and it turns heads, especially kids, everywhere I take it!

    Future Plans

I have been thinking of a new set of wheels, the current ones, original of course, are 14" and hard to find replacements that fit since they have to have a 22mm inset so I may go to 15", if I find something I like. The car sits a little high now, required by federal law at the time and I am thinking of dropping it a couple of inches. I am open to other modifications as keeping it completly original isn't something I am driven to do.
